Munching chocolate to cope with the credit crunch? I'd rather go to the opera!

The Sun published a report recently saying that sales of chocolate in the UK have soared. It seems that people have decided to deal with the credit crunch by finding short term relief in chocolate.

Now... let's be rational here: from a nutritional standpoint I agree that chocolate has magnesium which is a natural relaxant but what about the fat and sugar content? I am sure that in a few months all that chocolate munching will turn into weight gain. Not a good idea when you're already worried about the future!

Personally, as well as receiving massages from colleagues (for free, a perk of my job), I am tackling this whole credit crunch issue by going to the Opera. If you get cheap tickets (I am talking nosebleed seats here in the balcony and above!) you can experience a wide range of emotions and beautiful singing which are very uplifting and guaranteed to improve your moods and boost your endorphins.

There is also a potential therapeutic effect of going to the opera as you can play out all your emotions and personal demons in a safe environment. Of course counselling is recommended for severe issues like debt, but if you need a good cry and a good laugh nothing beats the opera: it has been the most popular form of entertainment for centuries.

So, next time you want to reach for that chocolate bar... go to the opera or have a massage!
